Spring 2019 ArizMATYC Conference

Friday, February 8 at Phoenix College

Join mathematics faculty from throughout the Southwest for the Spring 2019 ArizMATYC Conference. The conference will be held at the Main Campus of Phoenix College on Friday, February 8. To kick off this amazing conference, Calculus: the Musical! will playing on Thursday, February 7th at 7:00 pm for a special engagement at the Bullpitt Auditorium. This special engagement is free to the public.

Additional information about this conference and a link to register can be found at the ArizMATYC website http://arizmatyc.org/ . General registration is $30 and $5 for students.  We encourage you to share information about the conference with interested students.

Keynote Speaker
The keynote at the Spring 2019 conference will given by Dr. Uri Treisman.  Philip Uri Treisman is a University Distinguished Teaching Professor, professor of mathematics, and professor of public affairs at The University of Texas at Austin. He is the founder and executive director of the University’s Charles A. Dana Center, an organized research unit of the College of Natural Sciences.

Professor Treisman has received numerous honors and awards for his efforts to strengthen American education. For his research at the University of California at Berkeley of the factors that support high achievement among minority students in calculus, he received the 1987 Charles A. Dana Award for Pioneering Achievement in American Higher Education. In 1992, he was named a MacArthur fellow.
